OMC has always placed a great deal of importance on the environmental impact of its operations and has taken care to ensure that the damage to the environment is more than adequately compensated. Besides creating and maintaining plantations at its various mine sites and, OMC is also assists the Forest Dept. by providing vehicles, VHF sets, engaging protection guards etc. 

OMC has organized seminars in collaboration with the Forest Dept. officials for sensitizing OMC officers especially Mining engineers regarding the need for "eco-friendly" mining operations.

Regular coordination meetings with Forest Dept. officials are being held both at the State and Central Govt. levels.

OMC is also contemplating for going in for the ISO 14001 certification which is expected to ensure environment management system as an integral part of its "eco-friendly" management.
