MINES

OMC has been steadily adding to the corporation's mineral inventory. Today, OMC possesses a reserve of 400 million tons of iron ore, 19 million tons of manganese ore, 28 million tons of chromite, 220 million tons of bauxite, 19 million tons of limestone and other minerals. OMC is acting as facilitating agent for development of bauxite properties.

OMC operates 11 iron ore mine, 5 chrome ore mines, 3 manganese mines and one limestone mines. Some more iron, manganese, granite, china clay leases are being opened up for mining.

South Kaliapani, Kaliapani, Sukrangi and underground mines of Bangur make OMC the leading chromite producer of the country producing high grade lumpy and friable variety. OMC has has approximately 28.2 million tonnes of Chromite reserves spread over 11 properties including the Kaliapani mines, covering more than 5800 hectares within the state of Orissa.

Some impure limestone bands inside Umpa valley lease in Koraput district, are being used to produce slab and tiles as a replacement to marble. OMC also owns few quarry leases for coloured and black varieties of granites dimension stone in the state.

Properties of OMC containing Iron and Iron and Manganese total 17 spread over more than 10,800 hectares with nearly 134 million tonnes in reserves. Prominent among these mines are the Daitari mines.

With around 1820 hectares under four properties OMC has Manganese reserves of about 12 million tonnes. OMC also has approximately 19 MT of Limestone, 1.9 MT of China Clay and 190 MT of Bauxite reserves in properties spread over nearly 2900 hectares.
